The 22-year-old Romanian professional tennis player underwent the breast reduction surgery in 2009, at only 17.
The tennis star, who was born in Constanta, found that her 34DD breasts were causing her difficulty in her tennis career.
This prompted the young woman to take action, and shrink her bust to a 34C.
The surgery proved to be a good move for the burgeoning star, who has climbed to number four in the world.
The tennis player first revealed her breast reduction at the French Open in May 2010.
It significantly improved her back pain and helped her to move up in the rankings.
She has since won £13,303,949.73 ($ 17,219,302) in prize money.
The star told the New York Post that her breast reduction improved her game drastically.
She said: “My ability to react quickly was worse and my breasts made me uncomfortable.”
However, the young woman also explained that even if she had not been a professional tennis player she would have undergone the procedure.
At the time of the surgery Halep said: “I didn’t like them in my everyday life, either. I would have gone for surgery even if I hadn’t been a sportswoman.”
However, she added: “It’s the weight that troubles me. My ability to react quickly, my breasts make me uncomfortable when I play.”
