The mother-of-three was shocked into action after her unhealthy ways caused her to have high blood pressure, which led to a bleed behind her eye.
She said: “I was under the hospitals care for about 18 months, as they can’t do anything for it but monitor it.
“This was my turning point that made me sit up and re-evaluate myself.”
The 54-year-old, who wore a size 22/24 in clothes started Weight Watchers to shift the pounds.
She said: “By eating good, healthy food I don’t have to weigh or measure anything.
“Losing weight has given me back my energy and zest for life.”
And she now weighs 11st 4lbs and has dropped an incredible seven dress sizes and now wears a 12/14.
Claire, who runs an industrial cleaning business with her husband Mark, said: “I can now, bend down, run up the road, power walk, I don’t need to keep sitting down to take the weight off my feet.
“I can sit in an airplane seat and be able to put the tray table down.
“And I know these seem like very trivial things but these are everyday battles when you carry weight, it is the simple things.”
She added that her weight loss has amazed her friends and family.
She said: “If you have never had a weight problem it is easy to look at people and think that they should sort themselves out.
“But it can be difficult, as we eat for all kinds of emotional problems and it’s learning to channel it into something else.
“I think for the first time I have been able to understand my relationship with food and change it.
“I could not of done this or continue to do it without the support of my weight watcher leader Jackie leech and all the lovely new friends I have made at the Ashby Del La Zouch meeting.”
