Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan Markle, 36, will be married at Winsdor Castle, a traditional royal castle and the sort of wedding venue many would dream of.
However, it was not the first choice for the couple, who announced their engagement in November.
The couple’s first choice was the stunning Frogmore House, the site of another royal wedding in recent years.
The house, located within Home Park next to Windsor Castle, is a large white stately home with an air of grandeur.
The home was built in the 1680s, and so is over 300 years old. However the building has a fashionable 1920s feel to it.
Steeped in British royal family history, the building was purchased as a romantic present by George III for his wife Queen Charlotte.
It is the burial place of Queen Victoria’s mother, and Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert are also laid to rest there.
Another royal wedding took place at the venue in 2008.
Princess Anne’s son and grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II married his Canadian girlfriend Autumn Kelly.
The former bartender and model married the Queen’s eldest grandchild Peter Phillips at the location, wearing a gown by British bridal designer Sassi Holford and the Festoon tiara.
Unfortunately for Meghan and Harry their first choice of wedding venue was vetoed by royal aides.
They pushed the couple towards St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle which will suit the size of the wedding partner better.
A source told MailOnline: “They would have loved Frogmore for the party, particularly Meghan who has called it ‘dreamy’, but they have been told St George’s Hall is far more practical.”
What wedding tiara could Meghan Markle wear?
Sarah Ferguson had a special tiara made for her wedding, perhaps Meghan will get the same honour.
Or she might opt for the Cartier Halo tiara worn by Kate Middleton on her wedding day.
Meghan might wear Prince Harry’s mother’s favourite tiara as a nod to her late mother-in-law. Princess Diana loved the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara.
