Victoria season 2 spoilers: Viewers in MELTDOWN over Lord M confusion ‘Did he die?’

Lord M (played by Rufus Sewell) was revealed to be suffering from a grave illness in last week’s episode of the ITV show, and it appeared that the former Prime Minister and Queen Victoria (Jenna Coleman) shared a poignant goodbye.

But as this week there was no mention of the Queen’s dearest confidante and friend, some people were confused about the timeline of events.

The real Lord Melbourne died of the side effects of a stroke seven years after the events in the episode, but as producers didn’t mention the character’s name once, many fans thought he’d already died off-screen, prompting anger at the show.

Taking to Twitter, one person posted: “Why has Lord M not been mentioned though? Did he not die last week? Did I imagine that scene? #Victoria.”

“Victoria is not the same since Lord M died. WHERE IS THAT BEAUTIFUL SMILE SHE ALWAYS HAD WITH HIM? #Victoria #LordM,” one person complained, thinking they had the story figured out, while another echoed: “But I still miss Lord M it was too bl**dy early to kill him off #Victoria.”

A third agreed: “#Victoria. I thought we might see Lord M one last time #disappointed.”

One viewer seemingly in the know tried to clarify the apparent mistake, saying: “People, people, people! Lord M died 7 yrs AFTER Edward VII was born. So no, he didn’t die last week. Wikipedia is your friend…#Victoria.”

Meanwhile, following the death of his father, Prince Albert (Tom Hughes) discovered his true parentage was actually his uncle Leopold (Alex Jennings) in a devastating conversation at his home in Germany.

Shocked by the news, Albert told his uncle: “You’ve made me a sham, my entire life a lie, Victoria married to a b****rd and my children illegitimate.”

Victoria and Albert’s relationship started to show cracks with the stunning news – as Albert attempted to keep his secret to himself – but his wife finally confessed to feeling like an “imposter” with her own children after the birth of her second child Albert.

Victoria season 2 continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
