Vera Lynn 100: Wartime singer releases new album TODAY – LISTEN HERE

The iconic wartime singer teams up with Alfie Boe, Alexander Armstrong, Aled Jones, Cynthia Erivo and The Ayoub Sisters on the 12-track record.

It boasts “Vera Lynn’s original iconic voice with full orchestra and choir”.

She said ahead of its release: “It’s truly humbling that people still enjoy these songs from so many years ago, reliving the emotions of that time.

“I was after all just doing my job as a singer – and it’s so wonderful for me to hear my songs again so beautifully presented in a completely new way.”

Lynn is now officially the oldest ever person to release a new album.

Her previous record came out in 2014, when she was 97. She’s also the oldest living artist to score a Top 20 hit with one of her releases.

She released We’ll Meet Again back in 1939 and went down famously with the troops posted overseas and their families back home.

She was awarded an OBE in the 1969 New Year Honours and later became Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1975.
