The Good Morning Britain presenter was concerned with the comments the Defence Secretary had made in the wake of the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Scribal in Salisbury earlier this year.
Madeley took the Defence Secretary to task over the “Russia should go away and should shut up” statement he made after Britain expelled 23 of it’s diplomats in the aftermath of the poisoning.
But the presenter believed Mr Williamson was refusing to give him straight answer after he asked whether he regretted the language he used at the time.
The minister began to reference the incident, but Madeley quickly chimed in.
“No, no, Mr Williamson, I asked you a straight question,” he insisted.
“Do you regret using casual language? Can you answer the question?”
Williamson attempted to respond as he said: “How we responded to that is the word…”
But Madeley “Do you regret telling Russia to shut up and go away?
“I’m asking the question not on my behalf but on behalf of my viewers.
“Do you feel that’s too casual an expression?
Williamson began: “I think that what everyone saw is Russia’s actions against our citizens in a city here in the UK…”
Madeley then interrupt to ask the question once again: “You’re telling us what we already know.
“Do you regret using Trump-esque language like ‘Shut up and go away’?”
Williamson began to talk once more, but the GMB stand-in presenter soon shouted over him.
“You’re not going to answer are you?
“Alright, interview terminated because you won’t answer the question.”
The interview then finished before Richard turned to co-host Charlotte Hawkins to express his disbelief.
Exasperated, he asked: “What are these politicians like?”
Those watching at home appeared to have a mixed opinion over the interview and took to Twitter to comment.
“That was just really awkward to watch & super rude #GMB,” one declared.
Another exclaimed: “Brilliant Richard!!!! #GMB”
“Blimey Richard, give him a chance to answer! #gmb,” a viewer stated.
“@richardm56 nailed that interview. Good on you man! #terminated #gmb,” a fourth said.
While a fifth added: “Is Madeley trying to make a name for himself? Trying to ape Piers Morgan ? Ridiculous line of questioning and very rude termination if interview… turning over… #gmb.”
