Trust Me: Jodie Whittaker's 'doctor' EXPOSED amid fears for daughter's life

The third instalment of the anxiety-inducing BBC series initially showed Cath’s tentative position as an imposter doctor at dire risk after her new boyfriend Dr. Andy Brenner (played by Emun Elliot) found out the truth.

But while the plot appeared to be making a sinister turn when the Scot took Cath and her daughter Molly (Summer Mason) on a secluded trip to is cottage in the hills, the love-sick medical professional stunned the blonde when he told her he knew everything and wanted to help her continue her lie.

Yet as the episode drew to an explosive end that saw a medical negligence incident take place in the fictional Edinburgh hospital, Cath found herself stuck feeling a sense of loyalty to her boss Dr. Brigitte Rayne (Sharon Small) and her moral code when a man nearly died of a dental abscess.

The trailer shows that the hospital is under investigation in the following episode, and Cath has a tough decision to make that could risk everything she’s worked for.

As the noose closes in, Andy warns her: “They start investigating you, it puts us both at risk, which means Brigitte needs to take the fall.”

But Cath’s situation takes a further turn for the worse when the father of her child – Karl (Blake Harrison) – shows up furious with his ex after finding out she has been telling people serious lies that he has been abusive towards her.

After angrily shoving his ex, he snapped: “She [Molly] is coming with me.”

Karl and Andy get into a physical altercation in Andy’s house, and Molly disappears outside during the upsetting scenes. But by the time Cath realises, the young child has already put herself in a dangerous situation on a busy main road.

Just as the trailer ends, viewers can see a terrified Cath waiting for two police men to approach her.

In a sinister voiceover, the Doctor Who actress whispers: “I took something that didn’t belong to me.”

Trust Me continues Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One.
