The 50-year-old Top Gear host was revealing new power lap times when he made the gaffe.
As the audience were left in fits of giggles, the BBC Two presenter was not impressed with the show’s prop department.
Matt said: “Okay, now earlier today we put both cars around our test track in the hands of the Stig.
“Not great conditions out there, but the Lexus did it in one minute and 25.6… so that goes there.”
Matt then slapped the Lexus LC500 power lap time to the board.
He continued: “And the Civic did it in one minute and 25.6. The exact same time!”
Slapping the second magnet for the Honda Civic Type R to the board, he said: “So that goes right there.”
The magnet dropped off the board and fell straight to the floor.
Chris Harris jibed: “Ah, that’s great work!”
Matt tried again, saying: “So that goes right in there.”
However, it fell to the ground once again, leaving Chris and the audience in hysterics.
Matt then turned to the camera and raged: “They’re down the bottom, who gives a s**t?”
One viewer tweeted: “Omg Matt made a funny #topgear #abouttime.”
Another posted: “For all the many #TopGear haters out there, please watch tonight’s ep, one of the best ever!
“Well done @harrismonkey @Matt_LeBlanc I really really enjoyed that. Epic Japan was properly epic. Thanks!”
Later in the episode Matt and Chris headed for Japan to buy second-hand sports cars at auction for a big road trip across Honshu.
