Timmy Matley dead: Will The Overtones split after tragic death? Is tour cancelled?

Fans have already been asking whether the group will continue as a quartet, and if Lachie Chapman, Mike Crawshaw, Mark Franks and Darren Everest will stay together.

They have a tour scheduled for this summer, consisting of eleven dates in July.

Of course, there is no news on this front just yet. Understandably, with Matley’s death being so recent, the group have not remarked on future plans.

In a statement online today, they wrote: “It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away.

“We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us.

“We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time. Mike, Darren, Mark & Lachie x.”

The band were on TV with Jane McDonald just a few short weeks ago, and released their fifth album – Good Ol’ Fashioned Christmas – in November 2015.

The group’s Summer Special tour is currently set to include shows in places such as Barnstaple, Weston-Super-Mare, Torquay, Worthing, Watford and Swindon.

Bournemouth, Northampton, Newcastle, Scarborough and Warrington are also on the agenda.

The band could well make an announcement about whether or not the shows will go ahead in the coming days and weeks.

Cork-born Matley was diagnosed with diagnosed with stage three malignant melanoma in 2016 but his cause of death has not confirmed.

His agent said the passing was “sudden”, according to the BBC.
