The Walking Dead season 8 spoilers: Does THIS confirm Carol and Daryl’s romance?

While there isn’t much time for romance in between battling walkers, it looks like fan favourites Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride)

A new photo released by AMC from the forthcoming run shows the two characters standing together, looking intensely into the distance as they prepare for some sort of unseen onslaught of the undead.

They both look really for action as Daryl is on his motorbike while Carol is holding her gun and keeps a lookout.

There have been hints for seasons now that the two characters would be getting together and now it looks like it could finally happen.

Speaking about Carol’s storyline, showrunner Scott M. Gimple said of the impending war against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors: “Her entire storyline has prepared her for this. She’s ready.”

He went on to say: “The strength and bravery that she shows as a person this season and the ingenuity that she employs… is very satisfying.”

Season eight will see the factions coming together as there is an all-out war that will result in deaths and carnage.

Most recently Chandler Riggs – who plays Carl Grimes – hinted at lots more death, saying: “Season seven was all about building up and getting everybody ready to fight against Negan.”

He added to Triple J: “And this season, there’s going to be lots of explosions, lots of killing, a lot more Negan.

“Yeah, lots of fighting. Lots of cool stuff. It’s really, really fun this season.”

The official synopsis recently teased that the baseball bat-wielding Negan could finally get his comeuppance and face justice for being so evil.

The brief reads: “As with any battle, there will be losses. Casualties. But with Rick leading the Alexandrian forces, Maggie leading the Hilltop, and King Ezekiel leading the Kingdom — Negan and the Saviors’ grip on this world may finally be coming to an end.”

The Walking Dead season 8 starts on October 22 in the US and will be aired on FOX UK the following day.
