The Walking Dead season 8 finale: Rick Grimes to be BETRAYED by allies in shock twist?

The Walking Dead’s hero, Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) has been through a tough ride on the hit AMC show.

He lost his son, Carl (Chandler Riggs) to a fatal zombie bite in the first instalment of the second half of season eight.

And it seems his troubles didn’t improve much as he found himself constantly battling with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) for the lay of the land.

In the upcoming finale, it seems All Out War will end once and for all as Rick and the Alexandrians head to battle.

But with so much already lost, could Rick lose the support of his allies and friends?

With that in mind, it seems he could become a new version of The Governor (David Morrissey).

The evil villain found himself so desperate for revenge that he lost everyone around him and close to him.

The Governor eventually perished – but could Rick be heading the same way?

There’s every possibility, according to Morgan Jones star, Lennie James.

The 52-year-old revealed: “I think it’s really fascinating and I think he absolutely could.

“It will be incumbent on Rick himself and the people around him, the people who love him,” he told US Weekly.

He continued: “Not just Michonne, but it’s up to the people around him to make sure that doesn’t happen.

“Rick is at a crossroads and it is up to him whether or not he will keep going down the road that will lead him to a version of the governor or whether he pulls himself back and remembers who he is and who he wants to be, and who he is for the group of people he’s leading.”

Whats more, Lennie thinks fans will be satisfied by the upcoming finale.

He spilled: “This has been a tumultuous season and there will be resolution and satisfaction but there will also be an eye on what was lost and on what there is left to gain and how the story’s going to propel itself forward.

“We think it’s satisfying. We believe it is, but it’s an ongoing story.

“Even when things end, they tend to kick off into something else beginning,” Lennie teased.

This comes as Michonne star Danai Gurira teased a big spoiler for season nine.

She told ABC News the journey her character has been on in recent weeks won’t be resolved just yet.

Danai, 40, spilled: “I don’t even know how you begin to heal moving into what she has to move into next.

“It really is about that sorry of… resilience or the ability to heal from something that is just unsealable from.

“And so that’s kind of the journey that she’s on right now.”

It seems Danai accidentally revealed she will survive until season nine.

She teased how Michonne’s journey is not over just yet.

The Walking Dead concludes Monday on FOX at 9pm while Fear the Walking Dead returns 23rd April at 9pm on AMC on BT TV.
