The Morning Watch: ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Edition – Easter Eggs, Anatomy of a Scene & More

Jurassic World 2 action

The Morning Watch is a recurring feature that highlights a handful of noteworthy videos from around the web. They could be video essays, fanmade productions, featurettes, short films, hilarious sketches, or just anything that has to do with our favorite movies and TV shows.

In this edition, check out a round-up of Easter eggs you might have missed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Plus, director J.A. Bayona breaks down a scene from the dinosaur adventure sequel, and a scientist takes a look at the science behind the dinosaurs of Jurassic World, including discrepancies between reality and their fictionalized big screen versions.

Mr. Sunday Movies breaks down the Easter eggs and references to the rest of the franchise you can find in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. But some of the discussion turns to what’s canon in the film series, especially with regards to the events of The Lost World, which some apparently considered not to be canon? I’m not sure why, but there you go.

Director J.A. Bayona breaks down a suspenseful sequence from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom where Bryce Dallas Howard has to draw blood from a tyrannosaurus rex in order to help save Blue the velociraptor. You might be surprised to learn that the stunt where Chris Pratt just barely jumps through the jaw of the tyrannosaurus rex was done by the actor himself.

Finally, paleontologist and molecular geneticist Mark Norrell talks more to SyFy about the science behind the dinosaurs of Jurassic World, including the fact that we’ve since learned that dinosaurs likely had feathers while the ones in the movie do not. But that’s something explained by Dr. Henry Wu in Jurassic World.
