The Handmaid’s Tale viewers have experienced yet another harrowing and brutal season.
June Osbourne (played by Elisabeth Moss) has gone up against another bout of hardships, and is not yet any closer to getting her daughter and escaping.
Although her progress is slow, all hope is not yet lost, as pointed out by some astute viewers on The Handmaid’s Tale Reddit.
The show’s source material of the same name is told from the perspective of tapes recorded by June whilst she was held captive.
And while no tapes have been recorded as of yet, fans think this is proof June will ultimately survive her ordeal against Gilead.
Reddit-user NightOwlWishes explained: “I realised that we’re probably just seeing June’s memories of Gilead.
“The whole show is supposed to be based on the tapes June recorded in the book that were found like a hundred years after Gilead’s fall, right?”
The user went on to explain the behind the scenes featurette saw June actor Elisabeth explain flashback scenes were cut from the latest episode.
“So, my theory,” continued the fan. “Is that all we are seeing is literally what June could remember about Gilead.
“That’s why so many of the characters seem to be out of the picture, because June didn’t know where they were or what they were doing at the time.”

Later in the discussion post NightOwlWishes theorised the long-running close-up shots of June were used to emphasise how she was feeling at the time.
If this is indeed the reason viewers are seeing a closed view of her story, it would certainly mean June survives until the end of the show.
So far she has overcome a number of harrowing events, including childbirth, a manhunt, and constant beating.
But will she eventually be able to escape with her daughter unharmed?
Meanwhile viewers have also been poring over the scenes involving Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski).
And recently they have pointed out that a subtle nod towards the phone in her bag may be pointing towards her upcoming escape from the dictatorship.
A fan wrote: “I don’t think that the creators would have taken the time to show the phone in Serena’s handbag at the airport.
“I think that while she wants Nichole back, she wants to do it in a place that Nichole can have all of the advantages.
“Why else would she have fought so hard for it?”
The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 continues 9pm Wednesdays on Hulu on Wednesdays and Sundays on Channel 4.
