The Chase: Mark Labbett DEMANDS cake after contestant BRIBES Bradley Walsh

The 56-year-old presenter announced that Chris, a 55-year-old HR manager from Sunderland, had brought cake to the studio.

Announcing to the ITV viewers that he had eaten the sweet treat, Bradley said that it had “done a lot of favours” for the contestant.

Show host said: “I’ve actually tasted one of your cakes, and I have to say, you have done yourself a lot of favours on this show by bringing in a cake. I have to say it was exceptional, gorgeous. Anybody else wanting to come on this show, remember, especially if you are brewers.”

During the contestant’s cash builder round, Chris ran out of time, however, seemingly thanks to the cake brought in before the show, Bradley tried to squeeze in an extra question, saying: “I tried to get it in there for you!”

Entering the show to take on the contestants, 51-year-old Mark Labbett demanded cake from the contestant.

“There’s something far more important. Where is the cake? Where is it? Have you eaten it all?” asked The Beast, before offering Chris a huge amount of cash, adding: “Well, in my sugar-deprived state, £28,000 says I’m better than you.”

One viewer tweeted: “Somebody brought in a cake? OMG! #TheChase,” as another asked: “Did she bring him cake? #TheChase.”

A third posted: “I would definitely bribe with cake on #TheChase,” as another said: “#thechase #gangofchase I agree with @MarkLabbett Where is the cake! Remember if you don’t slice it and eat it all it counts as one piece.”

The official Twitter account for The Chase posted: “The hungriest man in quiz it’s #TheBeast @ITVthebeast. He’s clearly been lured here by the promise of cake. For £7000 #TheChase is on!” before adding: “Maybe he’s been slowed down by Chris’s baked goods but we’ve outrun #TheBeast. £7000 in the bank – piece of cake #TheChase.”

Later in the show, Mark asked new hopeful Benji, a 34-year-old cocktail bar owner originally from Weston-super-Mare, why he hadn’t brought Whisky with him to bribe a higher offer.

“Well Chris brought in cake, so why didn’t you bring in your tools of the trade?” Mark asked the contestant.
