The subject of the comparison was Stephen, a Master’s student from Sheffield.
Fans were quick note an uncanny likeness between him and an iconic 80s film figure.
Ghostbuster’s Egon Spangler, played by Harold Ramis, was the character labelled as Stephen’s doppelgänger.
With the two sporting very similar glasses and hair styles, watchers of the show couldn’t resist taking to Twitter to make the link.
One fan noted: “Stephen looks just like Egon off Ghostbusters. #TheChase”
Another expressed their disbelief: “@ITVChase @BradleyWalsh can’t believe you’ve got a ghostbuster on the show tonight #TheChase.”
“Didn’t Stephen used to be in Ghostbusters? #thechase,” one viewer questioned.
However, this wasn’t his only link to showbiz, as Stephen revealed to host Bradley Walsh that he was an avid autograph hunter with over 6,000 in his collection.
He went on to win £3,000 in the cash builder and was the only contestant to make it through to the Final Chase.
Although he made it to 14 steps, Chaser Shaun Wallace caught Stephen with 17 seconds to go.
