Paul Sinha was today’s quizzer on The Chase, eventually beating the entire team to defend the show’s prize fund.
However, it wasn’t an easy ride for the Sinnerman who faced a backlash from the contestants.
Contestant Gill had amassed £5,000 in her cash builder round, but was then given higher and lower offers from Paul.
The chaser offered a higher offer of £51,000 and a lower offer of just £300.
Gill’s fellow teammates were not impressed when asked for their opinions.
Stuart quipped: “I think you can forget the £300. It’s an insult!
“We would love you to come back with the £5,000. But you’re more than capable of the £51,000. But get back!”
Ian added: “We really need you back here so take the £5,000.”
He then snarled: “The £300 is an insult!”
Host Bradley then tried to get proceedings back on track and turned back to Gill and Paul.
He explained: “Alright, here we go. Let’s have a look.
“We have £300, £5,000 and £51,000. What do you think?”
Gill then snapped at Paul and said: “Very insulted with £300 Paul! So that’s just no to start with. I’m going to stick with the £5,000.
“I’m going to get back and take some girl power to the team.”
Bradley then added: “Stick with £5,000. That’s fine! Chaser?”
But Paul wasn’t going to take the accusations of insults laying down.
The 47-year-old said: “I think that’s again, the safer option. Probably the sensible option. But do you know the thing with the lower offer?
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s meant to be considerably less than what they actually bring to the table.
“That’s the whole point of the lower offer. It wasn’t meant to be a lower offer because I knew you wouldn’t take it.”
