The Big Bang Theory: Amy Farrah Fowler star shares emotional behind the scenes tribute

The Big Bang Theory ended after a successful twelve year run and both characters and cast members seemed to create a lasting bond with many hours spent on set huddled into Apartment 4A.

The final episode is currently up for an Emmy award, but perhaps one of the most memorable episodes among fans is the cross-over episode where fans saw Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parson) and Amy Farrah Fowler get married.

The episode saw Sheldon’s siblings introduced in the show’s spin-off Young Sheldon all grown up as the two tied the knot.

However, with the show’s usual summer break over and no show to go back to, the cast seem to be feeling Nostalgic.

The Amy star seems to be missing her cast members as she posted a behind the scenes picture of the episode on Instagram.

The picture shows Mayim with co-stars Kaley Cuoco and Melissa Raunch in a throwback to the episode with Amy at Sheldon’s wedding.

Posting on Instagram, Mayim wrote: ‘I miss them @melissarauch@kaleycuoco.’

The snap seems to have been taken on set of the season 11 wedding episode and fans were quick to take to social media to share how much they missed the show.

One fan commented: “Will miss you this season but thank heavens for reruns!”

A second added: “We do too! Can believe no more BBT!!! CBS needs to do a spin off!!!!”

The post comes after the show’s director Mark Cendrowski revealed it was the lengthy twelve seasons of seeing Sheldon show next to no emotion towards his friends that made the finale so fitting.

The final episode of The Big Bang Theory titled The Change Constant saw a number of changes take place in the lives of long-term cast.

Penny (played by Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) announced they were having baby and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) got to meet Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Sarah Michelle Gellar made a surprise guest appearance.

However, it was Sheldon’s tear-jerking acceptance speech after winning the Nobel prize that wowed fans as the theoretical physicist appeared to undergo a last-minute character transformation.

The director revealed: “Sheldon’s non-emotion amplified everyone else. You could get frustrated with Sheldon, but then you saw how it affected Leonard when he’d be upset.

“That’s what I’d lean into. That universe spinning around him had to be real and honest.”

The director went on to spill that the scene wasn’t a quick shoot, as the crew had to organise a staggering 200 extras.

He added: “I felt a lot of pressure because it had been building up all year

“The episode had a lot of great challenges — we had 300 extras and had to shoot an auditorium scene to make it look like 3,000 people attending the Nobel Prize ceremony.”

“That was a vast scene that also had to play emotionally and close to the heart.”

The Big Bang Theory season 12 is available on CBS and All4.
