During his hunt for bargains in middle England, antiques dealer Charles Hanson took a short break to learn about the history of whippets – however things did not go to plan for him.
Charles was seen getting dragged a few yards before he let go of the lead and dusted himself off as he got back onto his feet.
Shortly before he was taken down by the canines, who seemed raring to go, Charles was heard giving them some sound advice about antique hunting.
He explained to one pooch: “It’s all about looking at antiques and looking at the bottom shelf first, keep your head down, just stay with the object and towards the end, the finishing line, if it’s worth buying, get it bought and hit that finishing line. Okay?”
The dogs must have taken his words on board as one of them really tried to make a run for it with Charles attached to the other end of a lead.
Even narrator Tim Wonnacott couldn’t keep the mirth out of his voice as he witnessed the funny blunder.
“Charles is down! Oh lord,” he was heard cheekily quipping to viewers watching at home.
“I was taken down by a whippet!” exclaimed Charles after getting back up.
This evening’s instalment of the BBC show proved to be eventful as Catherine Southon and Charles battled it out in the second leg of their Road Trip.
Charles started off in the lead in the first episode but Catherine managed to make back some profit this evening after she scored big in the final auction.
Unfortunately, Charles had to pull out at the last-minute due to unforeseen circumstances and was replaced by fellow antiques expert Philip Serrell.
Catherine appeared to be quite pleased to have Philip by her side because he brought her luck after her items went under the hammer.
Luckily, it was revealed that Charles would be back for the penultimate leg of the Road Trip and he was seen reuniting with Catherine as they scoured the country for valuable antiques.
The Antiques Road Trip continues on BBC Two tomorrow at 7pm.
