Kate Middleton paid tribute to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana on her wedding day to Prince William with a tiny detail.
When a royal bride married her prince there are always millions on her on the big day.
However, it is unlikely anybody noticed this minuscule, but sweet detail.
The Duchess of Cambridge often borrows Diana’s jewellery, and her engagement ring is the one Charles gave to Diana when they were engaged.
On her wedding day Kate took her lead from her mother-in-law.
Both the women wore earrings, which were gifts from their parents.
Princess Diana, who was then only 19 and known as Lady Diana Spencer, wore drop earrings – a favourite style of Kate’s now.
The Princess of Wales wore earrings that belonged to her mother.
They were pear-shaped pearls surrounded by 50 small diamonds.
On the other hand, Kate Middleton’s wedding day earrings were gifted to her as a present from her parents.
The Middleton’s designed a pair for drop earrings with diamonds set in white gold, which were inspired by the Middleton family coat of arms.
The £15,000 earrings were commissioned by Kate’s parents Carole and Michael from a small London jeweller, Robinson Pelham in Pimlico.
The whole family also had a piece of their own jewellery made inspired by the family coat of arms.
The Middleton’s crest was designed shortly before Kate’s wedding, so that she and Prince William could have a joined coat of arms.
Prince Harry, 33, is also confirmed to be planning a Princess Diana tribute on his big day to Meghan Markle, 36.
The statement from the palace, released on Friday, said: “In addition to having the support of The Queen, his father The Prince of Wales, and his brother Prince William as Best Man, Prince Harry is also keen to involve his mother’s family in his wedding.
“All three siblings of Diana, Princess of Wales will be in attendance and Lady Jane Fellowes will give the reading.
“Prince Harry and Ms. Markle both feel honoured that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day.”
Express.co.uk revealed the Queen’s jewellery donated from Saudi Kings.
The Queen has an array of stunning jewels, many of them given to her by foreign royals, including these gems from the Middle East.
