Tesla revealed mysterious new vehicle at the Semi truck and Roadster launch

Tesla caused waves in the motoring world at the launch on Friday with two new vehicle unveilings.

Not only was the Semi truck, which boasts 500 miles of range and 0-60mph time in five seconds, but also the Roadster 2.0.

The was a secret revelation at the end of the event in Hawthorne California, which ended up stealing the show.

The sleek Roadster was debuted with an enormous 620 mile range from its gargantuan 200kWh battery pack but also an eyewatering 0-60mph acceleration speed of 1.9 seconds.

Before the show, some people expected that the car to be revealed would be the pickup truck, which Musk has previously stated he is working on.

In a shareholders meeting in June, he said: “I really recommend showing up for the semi truck unveiling – maybe there’s a little more than what we are saying here.”

He has also previously alluded to Tesla building a truck saying “I think it is quite likely we will do a truck in the future,” he said last year.

“I think it’s sort of a logical thing for us to do in the future.”

Earlier this year, someone asked the Tesla boss on Twitter about the new pick-up.

“Can we get a light duty pickup next,” Musk replied, “What if we just made a mini version of the Tesla semi?”.

It seems like that is quite literally what the car manufacturer has done here is bolt on the front of the Semi to a pick-up cab.

It has an almost comical design after seeing the Semi with its tall proportions and smooth, curved front.

At the launch event it was confirmed that the design of the Semi could be leveraged to create the pick-up.

“It’s a pickup truck that can carry a pickup truck.”

“You’ll actually be able to legally drive that with a driver’s license. It’s kind of wrong, but I like it.”

While not much more than a design render has been produced of the car we can make some assumptions based on the Semi.

We can assume that the truck will be able to go from 0-60mph in at least five seconds and have a range around 500 miles.

It should also have the same Bugatti Chiron beating drag coefficient.

When or if the truck will go on sale or debut at the same time as the Semi is not yet known.
