The ITV show was determined to rid viewers of their arachnophobia today, but Piers Morgan’s jibes to his co-star Susanna Reid left her screaming in terror.
Calmly walking over to the eight-legged beast, Susanna, 46, grinned: “If you’re scared of spiders, and I’m not particularly keen on them, there’s only a blinking tarantula in the studio!”
However, she soon lost her cool when Piers, 54, threatened to set the furry guest free.
“Hold on, can we get in there,” he asked.
“Piers! No, no, no, no,” Susanna shrieked. “You’re not allowed to, you’re not allowed to.”
“Says who?” Piers smirked. “Is it going to kill me or not?”
Also on today’s Good Morning Britain, Piers took anther swipe at BBC Breakfast.
The father-of-four, who regularly has a pop at host Dan Walker, claimed “it’s over” for the rival.
“We’re killing them in the ratings,” he told viewers.
