The 28-year-old comedian once again acted as a stand-in for regular presenter Simon, 54, on the Channel 4 cooking show today as he took his place alongside Tim Lovejoy, 49.
During a link, Joe explained that he had taken over from the chef, saying: “I’ve taken over presenting duties whilst Simon is away,” before he added that he was planning to do the honours “forever”.
Fans were not happy about Simon’s absence, rushing to Twitter to beg for him to come back, with one person posting: “Love #joelycett in the right arena but not on #SundayBrunch. Come back Simon!”
“I miss Simon not the same without him,” another complained, while a third added: “Brilliant. Joe Lycett hosting again… Said no one ever.”
Some Sunday Brunch viewers were delighted with Simon’s temporary replacement, however, as one remarked: “Missing Simon but loving @joelycett – need to see more of him on TV.”
“Joe Lycett on Sunday Brunch. My day is made,” a second tweeted.
One even wanted Tim and Simon axed from the show, saying: “Joe Lycett is great on #SundayBrunch. Get rid of the usual two and pair Joe up to introduce it!”
Joe previously took the helm on Sunday Brunch in May this year, leaving viewers decidedly unimpressed with his presenting skills.
Fans slammed the comedian for being “unfunny”, with one blasting: “I wish I was half as funny as @joelycett thinks he is on #SundayBrunch.”
Another tweeted: “The persistnely unfunny and extremely limited @joelycett on @SundayBrunchC4. Ah well…”
Sunday Brunch continues next Sunday at 9.30am on Channel 4.
