Channel 4 viewers were left gobsmacked by the 54-year-old host’s unfortunate double entendre on today’s instalment of the cooking programme.
Whipping up a spicy jerk chicken kebab with the help of Love Island presenter Caroline Flack, 37, Simon explained the kind of dish that they were making.
“There are two types of marinade for jerk,” he said. “You either have it so that you rub it on to a piece of meat, which is a dry jerk.
“Or, our case, you have it with liquid, so this is what’s known as a wet jerk,” he added.
A smattering of stifled giggles came from the gathered guests and production team as Simon ignored the innuendo and powered on with the show.
However, it did not go unnoticed by the viewers at home, who rushed to Twitter to comment on the X-rated remark.
“‘A wet jerk’…cracking Sunday morning TV as always,” laughed one fan, while another exclaimed: “A wet jerk, oh dear god.”
“Always go with a wet jerk,” another commented, as a fourth tweeted: “You couldn’t make this stuff up.”
A fifth commended Simon for his stoic response to the accidental naughty comment, saying: “A #wetjerk @simonrim [applause] for keeping a relatively straight face!”
Elsewhere in the show, viewers were distracted from the cooking by hunky guest chef Tommy Banks, with many commenting on his rugged good looks.
Sunday Brunch airs Sundays at 9.30am on Channel 4.
