The Saturdays star’s track Back To You peaked at No90, and now she’s back with a new song – Hair Down – due for release September 1.
By all accounts, the latest cut is an all-out floorfiller, making a marked change from the thoughtful mid-tempo of Back To You.
Speaking to Fabulous, she said: “Back To You was a really personal song and I’m still really proud of it.
“But with hindsight, the response from the fans was that they were actually looking to me for an upbeat pop banger.”
She added: “My fan base come to me for that feel-good party thing – more what I’ve done with The Saturdays.
“I feel like we’ve really stepped up a gear and I’m pleased that I took this time out.
“The thing I loved most about being in The Saturdays is that the music we put out is the music I genuinely love. I’m proud of songs like All Fired Up and What About Us – songs that if I go on a girls’ night out and they’re played in a club, I feel like I want to dance.
“And that is the kind of thing I wanted to achieve with Hair Down.”
She’ll have a full diary for the rest of the year: not only is she releasing new music, she’s also signed up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, on which she is currently the second favourite to win.
The Saturdays enjoyed a string of chart hits from their debut in 2008, eventually disbanding in 2014.
Hair Down by Mollie King is out on Friday, September 1.
