The 59-year-old stunned BBC audiences week after week with her flexibility and age-defying lifts, but it wasn’t enough for her to be crowned the winner.
Ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing tour, Debbie McGee appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier today to reminisce with presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard.
Susanna, 47, in particular appeared incensed that the former magician’s assistant didn’t win and grilled her how she felt about losing.
Debbie answered: “No, everyone wants to win but we had such a great time.
“Getting to the final was such an achievement, and everyone said they wanted me to win so maybe that’s better than not winning.”
Susanna noted that Debbie could use the time touring the country to reclaim the trophy night after night for her and professional partner, Giovanni Pernice, 27.
However, the radio presenter swiped: “Absolutely, and Giovanni and I believe Katya [Jones] and Joe aren’t cleaning the Glitterball properly!”
Meanwhile, viewers were furious that Debbie’s interview appeared to be cut short to only two minutes.
One fan posted on Twitter: “@thedebbiemcgee supposed to be on at 8.20am, #GMB finally spoke to her at 8.27am, don’t think I’d want to get up so early for a three min chat.”
Another added: “Seriously, Debbie McGee only gets a two minute interview on Good Morning Britain”?! I think you need to schedule your programme better #GMB and stop showing the competition constantly!”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
