Strictly Come Dancing’s Alexandra Burke slams backstage rumours: ‘They had an impact’

Alexandra Burke gave an interview on Good Morning Britain and discussed what life is like on the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

ITV hosts Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway asked if the former X Factor winner would like to set the record straight on rumours that emerged following her appearance on the BBC talent show.

While Alexandra, 29, was on Strictly, stories emerged of her acting a “diva” and the star received constant backlash for showing an emotional response to judges’ comments.

She told Susanna: “I kind of did put the record straight the last couple of weeks on Strictly.

“It is upsetting but I am such a positive person and it’s always good to be that sort of way.

“A lot of the things were untrue. It didn’t take away from the fact I had an amazing time.

“I can’t let that negativity take away from what’s been great,” Alexandra explained.

The Bad Boys hitmaker also explained that she feels the stories reflected how people on the show considered her.

“Maybe it could have had an impact on how people saw me,” she recalled.

However, she said that Joe McFadden and Katya Jones were always the worthy winners, adding: “I’m not sure on whether they had an impact on Joe winning because he was amazing and deserved it.

“But those who know me know what I’m like so I just have to take it with a pinch of salt.”

Alexandra gushed about the Strictly Come Dancing tour which is currently taking the nation by storm.

When asked how it compares to the live BBC show, the popstar laughed: “I think it’s even better!

“You get to meet those who voted for you and there’s so many kids who love the show.

“Seeing their smiles is amazing.”

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One later this year.
