Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Oti Mabuse confesses real reason Kelvin didn’t score 40

Kelvin Fletcher flicked and kicked his way on the Blackpool Tower dance floor last weekend as him and Oti Mabuse mastered the Jive on Strictly Come Dancing. The pair gave a clean performance that was full of energy but notoriously harsh judge Craig Revel Horwood still found fault with the routine. During an appearance on It Takes Two, Oti explained why she thinks the judge held back from giving them a perfect score.

Last weekend on the BBC show, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli all gave the couple 10s and simply offered words of praise without any points of improvement.

Shirley commented: “I’m speechless, I don’t know where to start but I do want to mention your flicks and your kicks, contra body, opposite arm to foot all the way through.

“You’re coordination was superb, that’s all I can say about that. You mixed your swing, you had some Jive, you had great action.”

“You owned it, you gave it, you controlled it, I was impressed,” Shirley added.

In Blackpool, Karim and Amy Dowden put on a cheeky Charleston which also received 39 from the judges.

Critiquing Karim’s dance, Craig added: “Clean, tight, precise. It was fantastic absolutely brilliant.”

Despite not offering any words of criticism, Craig still decided to gave Karim a nine.

Viewers were outraged by Craig’s decision not to give either Kelvin or Karim a 10 and flocked to social media to comment.

One said: “Got the feeling Craig is jealous of Kelvin and Karim and can’t bring himself to get the 10 paddle out. #Strictly #strictlyblackpool.”

Another added: “@bbcstrictly Craig is so mean. Kelvin & Oti, Karim & Amy should of got 10, robbed! #strictly.”

“I’m calling the police cause Amy and Karim have been robbed #StrictlyComeDancing 2019,” another said.

Another exclaimed: “Why does Craig have to be so difficult!!! Just give Kelvin a blimmin 10! That was 40 worthy! #strictly #strictlycomedancing @bbcstrictly.”

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results returns to BBC One Saturday at 7.15pm.
