Jay McGuinness has revealed that there was a secret romance during his season which the papers never managed to find out about.
The Strictly Come Dancing champion was discussing the BBC show during an appearance on today’s instalment of Loose Women.
Discussing behind-the-scenes gossip, he hinted: “It’s funny because during it you see two sides, you see the papers and you see what people say and you also see the show.”
During the 2015 series that Jay won with partner Aliona Vilani, he suggested that despite one romance hitting the headlines there was another one going on backstage.
“My year was just like every other year, there’s like two big romantic scandals and half of that is in the papers and half of it isn’t.”
“And there’s a bunch of stuff that goes on and you think wow, I’m really surprised that no one knows about this,” he continued.
As they burst out laughing, the Loose Women panel tried to get Jay to reveal who he was really talking about but he wouldn’t.
Refusing to name any names, Jay cheekily remarked: “How annoying to say just that but no so much goes on.
“It’s like a bunch of really mad people in close proximity who don’t normally hang out like athletes and pop stars and newsreaders.’
Asked whether he thinks the Strictly curse does exist, Jay said: “I don’t think it’s anything to do with Strictly, I think there’s just an element of being up close and personal with people and then after the second show and people get on the champagne.”
However, Jay did confess to who he thought had an influence on potential romances that start on the show.
Suggesting who he thinks might be to blame for stirring up romances, he revealed: “The make up women, they love a gossip.
“There the ones who are like ‘You know, I think he likes you’ they stir it a lot but they have the best job on Strictly.”
In other Strictly news, Dianne Buswell dished the dirt on her pre-show routine during an appearance on The One Show earlier this week with her fellow professional dancers.
Presenter Matt Baker asked the dancers whether they had any “lucky charms,” to which Dianne jumped in and revealed what she carries with her to every show.
“I have a couple of little gemstones that I take with me everywhere that my mum and dad have given me,” she shared.
“I take them everywhere I go and they give me luck and it’s worked so far, so I’ll keep taking them with me.”
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Dianne opened about her her future on the show and co-star Pasha leaving.
She said: “I’d love to be in it for a long time. It’s such a great show. Fingers crossed. I’m really sad about Pasha leaving, I loved him. He’s such a
gentleman.”
“On my first show he really included me, as all of them did. Such a great guy and I’m going to miss him to be honest. Anytime you need help he’s willing to help you.”
