Graeme Swann and his partner Oti Mabuse took to the dance floor earlier this evening to perform the Samba to Limbo by Booker T and The M.G’s.
Before they impressed the judges, Tess Daly introduced the former cricketer and made a sport related joke.
But viewers at home were left unimpressed by the hosts attempt at comedy and instead found Graeme’s response funnier.
Tess commented: “Who knew cricket was so much fun?”
And fans took to Twitter to express their views on the comment.
“Tess Daly, cricket’s been his career and his life. #Strictly,” one wrote.
Another added sarcastically: “‘Who knew Cricket could be so fun?’ asks Tess. Err, the one billion Cricket fans in the world #Strictly.”
“Tess to a world class cricketer: ‘who knew cricket could be so much fun.’ He’s only spent his whole life playing it Tess I think Graeme did #strictly,” a third wrote.
Fans also tweeted about Graeme’s first performance, with many having thoroughly enjoyed it.
One wrote: “Graeme Swann. What a legend. Dad dancing to the extreme. I love him. #strictly #strictlycomedancing2018.”
Another commented: “GRAEME – Well I was not expecting this…He has some power and rotation in his hips! His timing and inner rhythm was on point and I think the routine showed him, and his attitude, off really well. #Strictly.”
Previous Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer James Jordan also tweeted and said: “Graeme. I bloody loved this dance! That is what Strictly is about. Great job by Oti, because he has had no training. Really fun. Tough tough dance as well. Second person to shock me tonight…well done. #Strictly.”
Meanwhile, the show also saw head judge Shirley Ballas scold Seann Walsh for an ‘illegal move’.
Seann performed the Tango to Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake with his professional partner Katya Jones.
While he seemed very enthusiastic about his performance, the judges weren’t as impressed.
Host Tess Daly asked the head judge what she thought about their dance and Shirley replied: “Well first of all I have to enforce the rules here.
“There was a lift at the end of the routine. So I have to…”
But Katya was quick to interject and defend her decision to include the move: “What? It was more of a chuck!”
The audience were then heard audibly laughing in response, followed by Shirley reiterating: “It was more of a chuck?”
Viewers at home saw the Head Judge join in with the laughing, whilst Seann continued to defend the move.
“It was a chuck, it was a special move, I chucked,” he argued.
Strictly Come Dancing 2018 returns next Saturday at 6.30pm to BBC One.
