The former Holby City star danced his way to victory with Katya Jones in the spectacular grand final after wowing viewers with his Cinderella-themed showdance.
The 42-year-old was left speechless when he was named this year’s winner but will no doubt be even more stunned when he receives his pay check.
He is reportedly set to take home a staggering £100,000 following his efforts on the dance floor over the past 14 weeks.
It comes as it was revealed that the basic rate for all celebrities signing up to the BBC series is £25,000, rising to £40,000 if they make it to the end of October.
The stars’ pay check will then increase to £60,000 if they are voted into the quarter-final.
According to The Mirror, Joe and other Strictly champions are then awarded another £40,000 if they are crowned the winner.
Joe made history last night as he became the oldest winner of the competition so far but it seemed as though not everyone was pleased with his victory.
Those tuning into the final claimed they spotted head judge Shirley Ballas looking “disappointed” when the actor’s name was called out.
Taking to Twitter to comment on the moment, one fan shared: “Congratulations Joe and Katya on winning #Strictly2017 Loved the look on Shirley’s face because Debbie didn’t win!”
While another wrote: “Can someone tell Shirley’s face that she’s supposed to look pleased for Joe and Katya winning the #StrictlyFinal #Strictly.”
Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special airs December 25 on BBC One at 6.30pm.
