The 29-year-old former X Factor winner has been wowing BBC viewers with her dance ability since the beginning of the series, even scoring a staggering 38 points for the first Argentine Tango of the series earlier this month.
Although Alexandra has consistently hovered near the top of the leaderboard, she slipped to fourth last night following her disappointing Rumba, despite coming first in the group Paso Doble-thon.
However, it was an awkward moment during the judges’ feedback which caught the attention of Strictly Come Dancing fans.
“Well, I thought actually it had quite nice emotion,” head judge Shirley Ballas, 57, conceded. “So that part was taken care of.
“When you danced your Cha Cha, you got over this brilliantly straight leg,” she continued. “You locked it, you moved your body weight over it… Today it looked a little bit like your feet were in front of your body.”
Shirley also criticised the Strictly hopeful for stepping on every beat of the music instead of allowing the pauses which make the Rumba so emotional and powerful.
“There are four beats, three steps and one should be a hold,” she insisted.
Alexandra appeared to take the feedback well, thanking the judge for her input, but fans flooded to Twitter convinced that she had accidentally called Shirley “Arlene”, having mistaken her for former judge Arlene Phillips, 74.
“Did Alexandra just thank Arlene???” one asked, while another commented: “I’m sure @alexandramusic just said ‘Thanks Arlene’ after Shirley Ballas’ feedback #Strictly #namefail.”
“Is is just me who noticed Alexandra called Shirley ‘Arlene’?” said a third, while a fourth chipped in: “Did Alexandra just call Shirley ‘Arlene? Whoops!”
However, others are certain that Alexandra didn’t make the epic blunder, instead suggesting that she had said: “Thank you darling.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.20pm on BBC One.
