Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Debbie McGee's semi-final 'meltdown' exposed 'She's exhausted'

The former magician’s assistant is set to perform both the Foxtrot and the Jive tonight alongside professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

But has allegedly suffered a meltdown as she struggles to juggle her training with pantomime rehearsals.

The 59-year-old is said to have broken down after working hard to fit in time to rehearse for both Beauty and the Beast at the York Grand Opera House and the semi-final of the series.

“It’s been Debbie and Giovanni’s toughest week,” a source commented. “It all got a bit much. There have been tears.

“Debbie has had to combine full days of Beauty with intense dance rehearsals in the evening.”

The insider went on to add to The Sun: “She’s absolutely exhausted, but she’s confident she’ll be able to pull it off again on Saturday.”

It comes after D in the quarter-final, revealing she had to “blink back tears”.

Writing in her column for The Telegraph, she said: “Giovanni an I were both very emotional dancing it and I’m proud of what we have achieved.

“I could feel the atmosphere in the studio and was blinking back the tears when we walked over to Tess.”

She continued: “If I’d completely gone to pieces at the end of the dance, which I did feel like doing, then it wouldn’t have been fair on those dancing after us because we’d have taken the audience too far down, so I tried to keep it together.”

airs tonight on BBC One at 6.45pm.
