The 59-year-old has been wowing judges week after week with her energetic and flexible routines.
The former magician’s assistant has fallen foul of a painful back injury which appears to be compromising some of her routines.
In tomorrow’s Musicals Week, Debbie and her professional partner, Giovanni Pernice, are set to perform an American Smooth to Memory from Cats.
However, the competitor has revealed that she has had to make some changes to the routine, following her sore muscle.
She wrote in The Telegraph: “It doesn’t look it, but this week’s routine is the toughest that I’ve had to do.
“We’re performing a Viennese Waltz-style American Smooth and there’s a lot of balance and control involved. Being a bit of a show dance, we’ve got a big lift in our routine.
“Giovanni started teaching me the dance on Monday and we tried to add a second lift but it wad hurting my back a bit too much so we’ve changed it for something else.
“I’ve definitely added a few more bruises to the collection!”
This follows recent reports that suggested Debbie McGee recently had a “backstage meltdown” after being worked too hard by her partner.
A source told The Sun: “Debbie is struggling and it all got too much for her. She’s finding practice increasingly difficult to get through.”
However, an insider shunned the rumour to Express.co.uk as “nonsense”.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow on BBC One at 7.05pm.
