And today, reflecting on her performance on her BBC Berkshire show, the former magician’s secret revealed a huge secret about Gemma Atkinson and Aljaž Škorjanec’s take on the dance.
Looking back on how she thought she performed, the 59-year-old noted: “The Samba roll did take me a few days to get right.”
She then went on to explain to listeners what the move entailed, commenting: “Towards the end of the dance it is where Giovanni and I, we both bend forward together and do a circle with our bodies and our arms.
“It is slow, quick, quick, and your arms are in a certain way.”
Revealing why she believes she was marked generously for the difficult routine, Debbie continued: “Why Shirley [Ballas] liked it is because celebs don’t ever do a proper Samba roll in Strictly, or so I’ve been told.”
Paul Daniels’ widow then revealed that one of her fellow contestants has ruled out trying to perform the move if they progress to the next stage of the competition.
“Gemma was telling me that if they get through, they’ve got a Samba coming up,” she remarked. “And Aljaž said, ‘We won’t be doing those and if we do I’ll be facing you’. It’s much more difficult than it looks.
Fans of the BBC series will have to wait and see if Gemma and Aljaž will be given the chance to perform Samba but last night she floored the judges with her American Smooth.
Head judge Shirley, 57, told the 33-year-old that the performance had a “stunning” effect on her.
“Oh my goodness and beyond, you must be a really good student you listen, listen and listen some more,” she commented.
“You must be a great lady to listen to the way the man is leading. Your arm styling, you made me quite emotional actually.
“You were off to the right, the correct side of the body, head to the right place and your energy was wonderful.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight on BBC One at 7.15pm.
