Davood, 35 – who plays Kush Kazemi in EastEnders – appeared on Strictly Come Dancing spin-off show It Takes Two tonight and host Zoe Ball, 46, was quick to quiz him on his other half’s reaction after he performed a Cha Cha to Dedication To My Ex by Lloyd ft. Andre 3000.
Zoe asked: “[It’s a] bit awkward doing a dance like in front of your wife Isobel, but she actually looked like she was quite enjoying it?”
Davood then replied: “She loved it, she was really nervous before. She was nervous for me.”
He added, turning to Nadiya: “She thought it was really good, she was really impressed.
“With all the clothes on and everything, she’s seen me walk round the kitchen, and it’s not quite the same without Nadiya there.”
Davood’s comments come after he spoke out about the infamous Strictly “curse,” with him insisting that “he doesn’t believe in it”.
He said: “Certainly, from an actor’s perspective, we are put in intimate situations all the time.
“That’s what we do. So this idea of a curse doesn’t exist for us. We’re used to dealing with that level of intimacy in a professional environment.”
Reflecting about working with 27-year-old Ukrainian star Nadiya, who is a two-time World Champion and European Champion in Ballroom and Latin ‘10’ Dance, Davood said she was the “perfect dancer” for him.
He told The Sun: “She is quite the taskmistress – even today I’ve had texts about when can we practise certain bits of our routine – but I like someone you can have fun with, who will also work you hard when it’s needed.”
Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two continues tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two, while Strictly Come Dancing airs at 6.45pm on Saturday on BBC One.
