Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Charlotte Hawkins SHUTS DOWN Piers Morgan's curse claims

The GMB regular was paired up with Brendan Cole on Saturday’s launch show and has shut down rumours that she will fall victim to the dreaded relationship curse.

Discussing her dancing debut, Piers, 52, asked his colleague: “Are you worried about the Strictly curse?

“You and Brendan will be up close for hours a day… When the old Paso Doble starts to kick in…” he teased.

Charlotte, 42, snapped back: “No we’re going to be dancing together. That’s what it’s about, the dancing.”

Controversial Piers also used the moment to address the same-sex controversy that has been circling the show over the weekend.

As Richard Coles suggested it is “nonsense” that the BBC has not yet included same-sex partners, the BBC revealed it has “no plans” for the immediate future of the show.

The Good Morning Britain host decided to put his two-pennies in, arguing: “I’m all in favour of it actually, but the problem is you’d then have to have a non-binary neutral pair wouldn’t you? You’d have to. They’d all start screaming, ‘What about us?'”

Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood also waded into the row earlier today, explaining that he thinks “it will happen next year”.

The 52-year-old added to Lorraine that the Tango was actually a dance between two men, so the idea of a same-sex couple shouldn’t be surprising.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
