The 29-year-old former JLS singer opened up about his concerns that his pregnant girlfriend Sarah Richards could go into labour while he is still wrapped up in the show, with the pair ready for an early January due date.
“If I got to the final it would be amazing, it would be great,” he told The Mirror. “But what if suddenly her waters broke?”
Aston said that he was determined that he would ditch Strictly Come Dancing in a heartbeat in order to be present for the birth of his first child with Sarah.
“If that happens then I’m not going to finish the dance,” the X Factor star insisted. “I’ll be straight out, grab the bag, let’s go. I’m prepared.”
Aston has been a frontrunner for since the beginning of the series, astounding the judges and viewers with his incredible technique and personal spin on dances.
However, last night he suffered a blow when his Viennese Waltz failed to impress, receiving much criticism from the panel.
Although he has regularly found himself at the top of the leaderboard, the popstar was disappointed to receive a minuscule four points from Craig Revel Horwood, 52.
The other three judges awarded Aston and his professional dance partner Janette Manrara, 33, seven marks each, leaving him with just 25 points and second from the bottom on the Strictly leaderboard.
A far cry from the success he has become accustomed to in the competition, last night’s performance left the pair in the danger zone, with only Ruth Langsford, 57, scoring less with 22 points for her Paso Doble.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.15pm on BBC One.
