Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Alexandra Burke attacked by trolls over 'fake crying'

The 29-year-old wowed judges with her extremely energetic Quickstep to the tune of 42nd Street’s The Gold Diggers’ Song (We’re In The Money) and scored an impressive 39 for her efforts.

As the X Factor winner made her way off the ballroom for a quick chat with Claudia Winkleman, she was overcome with emotion and broke down once more.

However, some BBC viewers were not buying her tears, and flocked to Twitter to slam Alexandra.

One wrote: “Another #Strictly, another 5 minute love in for Alexandra bl**dy Burke. Annoying as they come. And what’s with the fake tears every sodding week?!”

Another added: “Just cannot buy in to Alexandra. Stop with the tears!”

A third agreed, posting: “Alexandra is so fake and over dramatic  crying again, shock.”

Luckily, Alexandra’s fans jumped to her defence and posted about how much they enjoyed her near-perfect Quickstep.

One fan gushed: “I just can’t believe the Criticism Alexandra Burke gets on social media week in week out! Simply because she is great at dancing and is excelling at what she is doing. R the British public so insecure with themselves they have 2 put down others.”(sic)

Another added: “A full-on quickstep done well is my favourite thing to see on @bbcstrictly, so Alexandra and Gorka made me very happy last night!”

Alexandra’s main rival, Debbie McGee appeared to struggle with her Spice Girls Samba and was slammed for being “over marked”.

The 59-year-old channelled her inner Ginger Spice and gained 33 points for her efforts.

However, many thought that the judges had taken too favourably to Debbie, and rushed to Twitter to comment on the marks.

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results airs tonight on BBC One at 7.15pm.
