Strictly Come Dancing turned spooky and dark last night as the remaining eleven contestants took to the dance floor to take part in Halloween Week. Catherine Tyldesley and her professional dance partner Johannes Radebe performed the Cha Cha Cha to Scared Of The Dark by Steps. However, those watching at home were unhappy with the score and feedback she received from the judges, with many suggesting the music choice didn’t suit the style of dance and therefore potentially hindered her chances of a stellar performance.
Catherine has been a dark horse in the competition so far, her Rumba was classed as “one of the best week 3 Rumba’s” head judge Shirley Ballas had ever seen.
But last night, it seems the song choice let her and Johannes down.
Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “One of my fave couples but I wasn’t a huge fan of that. Didn’t like the music and some timing issues #Catherine #Strictly.”
“#Strictly This has to be one of the worst weeks for the music. What on earth is going on? That is completely unrecognisable as @OfficialSteps,” someone chimed.
“Non cha cha beat with terrible song choice ruined it for her. Shame as I really like her,” a viewer added.

A third added: “Song choices this week are awful #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly.”
“@BBCStrictly @Cath_Tyldesley and @jojo_radebe love watching these two, but think the music choice let them down tonight #Strictly x,” a viewer wrote online.
Someone else tweeted: “@BBCStrictly @Cath_Tyldesley and @jojo_radebe The music has to be the worse choice ever for a Halloween show! Some of the songs…(beats…pick ups…drops etc) are ridiculous. Too hard for many, esp non-pros, to ‘get with’ inside a week! Just proved by Catherine losing her timing…way too hard to get back. But great effort.”
Express.co.uk has contacted the BBC for a comment about who decides the song and music choices danced each week.
“[You] definitely have timing issues, there [were] some mistakes. Even Johannes, the look on your face, there were too many mistakes in there. But you’re talented, you’re lovely and you come out there giving it 100 percent, so well done for trying.”
Bruno Tonioli who was absent from last week’s live show was third to feedback: “Don’t get discouraged.
“When you started, I thought ‘oh we are in for a treat, that’s a good Cha Cha and she was selling it.’
“You were popping, you were giving performance. Something happened with the timing, something went wrong and then you kind of somehow, I could see it in your face, your confidence disappeared, but it doesn’t matter, you’re an actress, cover it up – play it big!” the Italian judge remarked.
