Strangers begins tonight (Monday, 10 September) on ITV at 9pm.
There are eight episodes in the series, airing every Monday at 9pm.
ITV’s short synopsis for Strangers reads: “Professor Jonah Mulray’s (played by John Simm) life is turned upside-down when his wife, Megan (Dervla Kirwan) is killed in a car crash in Hong Kong. Although she lived and worked there half the year, Jonah’s never been. He lives a small, sheltered life, and his fear of flying has kept him in London. But now he has no choice but to cross the ocean to identify the body of the woman he loved.
“Not long after arriving in Hong Kong, Jonah makes a shocking discovery about his wife. Over the course of eight thrilling hours, Jonah is drawn deeper and deeper into a web of conspiracy as he comes to terms with this utterly alien and unfamiliar environment, battling to uncover the truth about his wife’s death.”
Who is in the cast of Strangers?
John Simm
Strangers follows the story of Jonah Mulray played by John Simm.
After Jonah’s wife Megan is killed in a car crash, he discovers things about his late wife he never knew.
Simm is best known for his role as the Master in Doctor Who.
Simm is also recognised for his starring roles in The Village, Mad Dogs, Trauma, Collateral, Exile, Prey and Life on Mars.
Emilia Fox
Emilia Fox plays British consul Sally Porter.
Sally tries to assist John in China in trying to discover Megan’s true life.
Fox is best known for her role as Dr Nikki Alexander in Silent Witness. She has played the role for the last 14 years.
Fox has also had memorable roles in Merlin, Keeping Mum, BBC’s Pride and Prejudice and The Pianist.
Anthony Wong
Anthony Wong plays David Chen, an ex-cop who knew Megan when she was in Hong Kong. He also wants to unravel Megan’s secret life.
Hailing from Hong Kong, Wong is best known for his role in the critically acclaimed film Infernal Affairs as inspector Wong Chi Shing.
He is also known in the west for his roles in the 1992 film Hard Boiled and 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Dervla Kirwan
Dervla Kirwan plays Jonah’s wife Megan Harris.
Megan works abroad in Hong Kong but is killed in a car crash. Megan has some dark secrets, making her a practically a stranger to her husband.
Kirwan is an Irish TV and stage actress most recognised for roles in Ballykissangel and Goodnight Sweetheart.
Anthony Hayes
Anthony Hayes plays Michael Cohen, a fictional journalist who is interested in covering the death of Megan.
Hayes is an Australian actor best known for roles his roles in War Machine, Animal Kingdom and The Light Between Oceans.
Katie Leung
Katie Leung plays David Chen’s daughter, a rebellious teenager.
Leung is a Scottish actress best known for her role as Harry Potter’s first love interest Cho Chang in the Harry Potter film series.
She also starred alongside Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan in The Foreigner.
Leung has also had roles in many plays including Wild Swans, The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, and The World of Extreme Happiness
Other cast members include Raquel Cassidy as Rachel, Ryan McKen as Faraz, Rosalind Halstead as Emma and Andrew Knott as Conrad.
