In trailers and teasers so far, there have been no clear signs of Jedi or Sith characters – whether established elsewhere in the universe, or entirely new.
But responding to a fan’s tweet, Howard has implied that there could indeed be Force-sensitive additions to the line-up.
User @Shqipe98 tweeted Howard: “I love Star wars but only the Jedi and sith stuff. Since this probably wont have any of that im watching it all cause of queen Daenarys.”
He replied: “I honestly don’t think you’ll be disappointed – enjoy.”
This has been taken by some fans on Reddit as a clue that Jedi and Sith could be in the mix, with one saying: “This is where the fun begins.”
However many others believe he was only talking about Clarke’s performance, which he has praised several times.
Surprise cameos from established characters have become more common in recent years: in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it was none other than Darth Vader who popped up.
In last year’s Episode 8: The Last Jedi, meanwhile, the Force Ghost of Yoda returned to talk to Luke.
