Star Wars plot hole: Last Jedi gaffe revealed – Proof Rey should have DIED in epic battle

Daisy Ridley’s character Rey was integral to one of the film’s most jaw-dropping moments: a huge battle sequence in which she teams up with nemesis Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to defeat Snoke’s Praetorian Guards.

A tweet from Paul Blank (@TheLocalGod) highlights one moment when Rey is in combat with a guard who holds weapons in both hands.

There’s one moment where Rey is clearly vulnerable – and could have been stabbed in the back by one of the guard’s knives.

However, in a continuity error, the knife disappears from the guard’s hand altogether.

Blank tweeted: “Choreographer: ‘but sir, as cool as it may look, if the red guard has two knives he could just stab Rey in the back’.

“Director: We’ll just edit one out half way through the move, no one will notice.

“FX Guy: Done.”

The GIF of the moment has had over 70,000 likes, and sure enough it shows the Guard’s fearsome blade completely disappearing right when it could have been the weapon that ended Rey’s life.

As it is, Rey will be back to lead the charge in Star Wars: Episode 9, which starts filming this summer.

Actress Ridley reprises her role alongside John Boyega as Finn, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose, Domhnall Gleeson as Hux and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron.

Whether or not Mark Hamill returns as Luke Skywalker is something of an ongoing mystery.

Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi is out on DVD and Blu-ray now.
