Daisy Ridley was also a big winner, scooping Best Actress. Rian Johnson, meanwhile, won Best Director.

Visual Effects and Costume trophies also went to the sci-fi smash, while Mark Hamill was honoured with the Icon Award.

Empire’s Editor-In-Chief Terri White commented: “This year’s Empire Awards might just be the most exciting yet!

“It was a hugely important year for cinema, both on screen and off, and from Get Out to Wonder Woman to Star Wars: The Last Jedi and God’s Own Country, I’m thrilled to see such a rich, diverse and diverse group of winners. The Empire readers really know their stuff.”

God’s Own Country won two prizes, including Best Male Newcomer for Josh O’Connor and Best British Film.

Get Out also won twice: Best Horror and Best Screenplay.
