There are still ten months to go, but fans are getting impatient. A Star Wars movie has never left it so late to reveal the title. A recent leak started a frenzy with the claim that Episode 9 was called ‘ Balance of the Force.’ The general response was not particularly enthusiastic. So when will it finally drop? One bold fan asked Lucasfilm keeper of the keys Pablo Hidalgo if he knew the title.
Hidalgo has worked for Lucasfilm for over 19 years and is tasked with maintaining consistency and continuity across all the various franchise films, books and shows. If anyone knows anything it should be him.
One fan asked: “Obviously you can’t tell anybody, but do you even know the name of IX? From my understanding, it’s being kept from almost everyone.”
Hidalgo’s didn’t spill the biggest Star Wars secret this side of Rey’s parents, but his answer was still extremely surprising.
Hidalgo said: “If it has a title, I don’t know it.”
Star Wars secrecy is no, well, secret. Everyone from veteran Mark Hamill to newbie Richard E Grant has confirmed the extraordinary control and checks in place. However, it seems extraordinary that not even someone on Hidalgo’s level has a clue.
Meanwhile, irrepressible chatterbox Anthony Daniels (aka irrepressible chatterbox C-3PO), has also been busy on Twitter teasing fans.
Yesterday Star Wars icon Anthony Daniels tweeted: “Everyone- except one – is looking the wrong way … But it’s getting closer… Amazing… Doesn’t seem to be the right shape for a movie title or trailer… Can’t see an X or anything… Oh… The signal’s faded… I’m sure it’ll return… What can it be… Stay tuned… I will.”
He followed it with the no less cryptic: “I have to rest, before I fall apart… But wait… Wait… I’m receiving a message from… T…R…A…V…………. Oh… signal fading……. Come back…. the One who got it?”
Nobody has a clue what (or who) the Force he is referring to.
STAR WARS 9 IS OUT ON DECEMBER 19
