The late actor played the famous droid across seven Star Wars films before his death last August at 81-years-old.
Now R2-D2 will be played by Jimmy Vee in Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and beyond.
In fact the actor first appeared as the character in Episode VII: The Force Awakens alongside Baker, but went uncredited.
The announcement was made by Oh So Small, who asked Vee how he felt about taking on such an iconic role.
The 57-year-old said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to have worked alongside the legendary Kenny Baker.
“Kenny was a fantastic actor and taught me all the tricks on how he brought R2-D2 to life which I will continue to portray in his honour.
“I’m so excited to be a part of the Star Wars universe and can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working so hard on for the last year.”
The 3ft 8in actor appeared as a goblin in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, alongside Warwick Davis – who also appears in Star Wars films.
He also play Lofty in Hugh Jackman’s Pan and has had multiple roles across six episodes of Doctor Who since the show’s revival in 2005.
His most notable parts were as Moxx of Balloon and Bannakaffalatta.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is released in UK cinemas on December 15, 2017.
