A source from the Irish set of The Last Jedi made the leak, highlighting a major lightsaber duel on Ahch-To between Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren and Daisy Ridley’s Rey, before Ren takes on Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker.
It has been revealed that Rey’s battle with Kylo Ren will end with her hanging off a cliff edge.
The news comes from YouTuber Mike Zeroh, whose source confirms that this scene was filmed at Pinewood Studios, using a foam set piece.
Hanging from her hands, the scene is likely to be a parallel with Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi – a contender for Rey’s father – who finds himself in a similar situation in Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
However it’s even more likely to reflect the key scene in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
The shot sees Luke hanging on for dear life after a battle with Darth Vader, who makes his famous line: “I am your father.”
The Star Wars theorist argues that when Rey is hanging off the edge, Kylo Ren will pay homage to one of the most famous scenes in cinema by revealing the true identity of Rey’s father.
Ridley has already revealed that Rey will be injured in The Last Jedi, however it’s not clear if this will be a physical ailment from a lightsaber or being injured mentally by the truth of who her father is.
The YouTuber claims: “This is a legitimate Star Wars Episode VIII plot leak when it comes to these two characters.
Mind you these details are minor, but they are absolutely correct and you will have to wait until the film comes out to see how correct these details really are.”
Recently another rumour claims that the Knights of Ren are all Luke Skywalker’s former Padawans.
The first trailer for the new movie is expected to be released in April during the Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando, Florida.
Ryan Johnson directed the film and is currently editing the movie in post-production.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is released in UK cinemas on December 15, 2017.
