It seems like Carrie Fisher had a mean right hook.
The actress had to physically hit Oscar Isaacs over and over again while they were filming a dramatic fight between Leia and Poe and apparently the 60-year-old did not hold back.
Isaacs said: “We did this scene where Carrie has to slap me. I think we did 27 takes in all, and Carrie leaned into it every time, man.”
But why was Leia so angry with the Rebel pilot?
The revelation is part of the huge new Last Jedi feature in Vanity Fair.
Isaacs adds: “She loved hitting me. (The director) Rian (Johnson) found such a wonderful way of working with her, and I think she really relished it.”
In a previous interview, Isaacs had only hinted that there was some kind of disagreement.
He said: “She relished the physicality of it, let me just say. It was pretty intense. It will be funny to see what they cut together based on that.”
Now that more has been revealed about Episode VII, it seems likely that the fight has something to do with Poe’s secret mission to the Casino Planet of Canto Bight.
Considering the new images of a Canto Bight party show everyone in glamorous evening wear, and the very first picture of Laura Dern shows her dressed the same, it seems safe to assume that her character will be encountered there, too.
FIRST LOOK AT LAURA DERN AND BENICIO DEL TORO IN THE LAST JEDI
Early reports had already depicted Dern’s mysterious character as a political rival and possibly enemy of Leia.
The new article reveals that her name is Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo.
While she is expected to be a leading opponent of Snoke and the First Order, it also appears that she will have major differences with Leia’s growing leadership of the galaxy-wide resistance to the threat they pose.
Has Poe found himself caught between two powerful women? Is the Vice Admiral going to be a major problem for General Leia?
