Square Enix news: Final Fantasy 7 release date and Kingdom Hearts 3 update

Square Enix have plenty of new announcements in 2018 to talk about, although two long awaited projects top the list.

In a recent update, it was revealed that one of these is still looking to make improvements before its launch.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake development team are looking to hire new team members to help boost the quality of the game.

Job listings have been found for level planners for the game, which is apparently in a bid to meet fan expectation for the project.

It’s fair to say that there is a lot of hype surrounding FF7 on PS4, which was first revealed back in 2015.

“We’ve come to the conclusion that in order to meet fan expectations we must increase its quality another step higher”, reads the translated job statement.

“Therefore, in addition to the current members for the Final Fantasy VII Remake development, we must establish a core group that includes level planners, battle planners, designers, engineers, and various types of jobs to tackle on the production of the big title.”

The job will include brainstorming level designs for each location, although this isn’t apparently a bid by Square Enix to avoid a bottleneck when it comes to workload.

What we can take from this new announcement is that the full game is still a long way off from being released.

And while we may get an update on the project in 2018, it certainly doesn’t like it will be ready for launch.

There’s the chance that Square Enix will release the game in chapters, in a bid to avoid a long wait time for fans.

This could push forward the release date, although fans will have to wait for an update from the publisher themselves.

Kingdom Hearts 3 fans have been hoping for a release date announced this week, as part of the franchise’s anniversary.

This didn’t surface though, with March 28 passing by without any big news being released.

The series celebrated its 16th anniversary, after the original Kingdom Hearts made its debut on March 28, 2002.

It was recently suggested that the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date would be announced before E3 2018.

And whether we already know the release date or not, the game is likely to take centre stage at this year’s big LA gaming expo.

In fact, the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra plans to kick off its world tour in Los Angeles on June 9 – just days before the start of E3.

Kingdom Hearts 3 fans might also want to grab this month’s issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, with the highly anticipated title on the cover this month.

As part of the feature, game director Tetsuya Nomura reveals how Rapunzel’s hair can be used to aid traversal and combat.

That’s on top of new details about the Keyblade transformations in the Tangled world, not to mention Mirage Staff transformation.

Likewise, the Kingdom Hearts director talks about a boss fight against a Zurg-themed Heartless spaceship in the Toy Story world, and about the Gummi Ship.

The new and improved Gummi Ship features 360-degree movement, as well as brand new customisation elements.

In terms of development, Kingdom Hearts 3 is split into three parts, the first two of which are almost complete.

It’s believed that the company’s Osaka studio is working on the game, plus 100 people from Square’s Tokyo studio.
