A new interview has revealed a lot about Sony’s PS4 Pro ahead of the big PlayStation E3 showcase.
Head of global sales and marketing, Jim Ryan, has revealed that the company’s upgraded console is making a splash when it comes to sales figures.
According to the latest information supplied, one out of every five PlayStation 4 systems sold is a PS4 Pro.
This means there’s a definite emerging market for premium devices, although it’s unclear just how they will fit into future console cycles.
Speaking about both the constraints of sales on PlayStation VRs and PS4 Pros due to stock, Ryan told TIME: “It is way ahead of our expectations.
“As with PSVR, and I suppose in forecasting these things we haven’t done a very good job, the product is in desperately short supply. So that’s one-in-five under severe constraint.”
While there is likely to be some PS4 Pro E3 2017 announcements when it comes to games with confirmed support, the biggest news concerning the console could come after the show.
Some analysts believe a potential PS4 Pro price cut is incoming, especially if Project Scorpio comes in at a lower price than expected.
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes we could see a cost cut at retail if the Xbox Scorpio launches for under $ 400.
“PS4 Pro’s price will drop if Xbox Scorpio is $ 399,” Pachter told Gamingbolt.
“If Scorpio is more expensive, [then Sony have] no reason to cut the Pro’s price.”
A new report surfaced this week that claims the Xbox Scorpio will run the best console version of Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Earlier reports from 2017 had featured the anticipated sequel as one of a number of titles that would benefit from 4K support.
However, no actual specs were shared… Until now.
Star Wars Battlefront will run at native 4K and 60 FPS on Xbox Scorpio. That’s according to Journalists at Windows Central, who have been the source of other correct information on the new console before its release.
The report goes as far as to state that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will run better than most PCs, which probably means that it will also offer a higher standard than the PS4 Pro.
Based on this new information, it appears that the Xbox Scorpio could be one of the best platforms to play the new shooter, beating the likes of the Nintendo Switch, who appear to being skipped by a lot of top releases this year.
