Sir Cliff Richard admits he will never recover from sex abuse claims: 'It hurt so much'

The BBC aired a raid of his Berkshire home while the singer holidayed in the Algarve.

Crown Prosecution Service threw out his case in June of last year after never arresting or charging Cliff.

Now 76, the Congratulations hitmaker has spoken out about how he doesn’t feel he can recover “personally” from the ordeal.

“I’m living my life again and it’s all in my past but when I think of what I tried to build up in my career, I know it’s been damaged in places I won’t ever go back to,” he told the Sunday Times.

The veteran entertainer has also revealed plans to sell his £6.4 million vineyard in the Algarve after admitting it was a haven for him during his ordeal.

“It was here that I had the most terrible time of my life but it was also here that I had the most beautiful time when it all ended.

“It didn’t change the despair, but I’d rather have been despairing here than anywhere else,” Cliff confessed.

This comes after a recent Twitter scam tried to con fans of the Mistletoe and Wine singer out of money.

A statement on his Facebook page illuminated the fraudulent behaviour to his followers and read: “It has come to our attention that there are people purporting to be Sir Cliff on Twitter and Facebook, who have befriended fans and in some cases tried to trick them into handing over money.

“PLEASE NOTE, Cliff does NOT have a Twitter account and does not tweet! Neither is he associated with any of these accounts which are using his name.”

The statement continued by urging fans not to accept any friendship request from any “Cliff Richard” accounts and warned them to not engage in any transferal of money.
